We had an incredible time! The house was fantastic, and the host was super friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to stay.

Sweet place, sweetest people! I spent 3 very peaceful weeks with Evelyn and Company, in a very quiet and relaxing environment. The home has been left mostly in its original form and is very organic and peaceful. My privacy was well-respected, but at the same time, the innkeepers were fun and interesting whenever I saw them. Good surroundings for walks or a bike ride. The roosters and chickens are a very beautiful variety and are fun to watch and listen to; they even seemed to greet me with a cock a doodle doo whenever I arrived back to the property! Lol The room was bright and sunny, and just as pictured. The bathroom has been updated in a very pleasant way. All linens are white and sparkling clean. I could have stayed there forever. I really hated to leave!

My girlfriend and I had a great stay! Would highly recommend. Sue was very accommodating for any issues around the place and very easy to communicate with. Would love to stay again sometime!

I've been renting on Airbnb for many years. I can honestly say this is the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in. Everything was pristine including the pots and pans. The rental was stocked with everything you would need for an enjoyable vacation including a wonderful coffee station. There were so many movies, board games, kayaks and toys. The views of the bay were incredible! Every morning we would sit on the porch and watch the herons, geese and swans. A couple of times, I had a question and texted the owner. The response was immediate! The townspeople in Mathews County were equally friendly, polite and courteous. We used all the owners' recommendations. I could not say enough good things about this rental and town. We had a wonderful stay and would love to come back again.

Mary was a fantastic host this weekend for my brothers Bachelor Party! Property is perfect for larger gatherings with plenty of sleeping space and community areas like the beach and firepit. Would highly recommend this property for people visiting the Williamsburg VA area!

Beautiful, large home in a secluded area. Wonderful for our family of five with gorgeous views and convenient to historical points of interest. Is definitely on our list for a return visit!

I spent my Christmas holidays there with my children, it was perfect and cozy and we all had a great time. There are many activities in the home and outside, great place to take your kids or take a private fishing trip alone.

Joyce has done a phenomenal job with this lake house. Everything has been thought through. The house actually looks even better than the pictures. You can tell a lot of thought went into the decor. And it is super clean. The kitchen is fully stacked with everything you would need ant home or away. Ample seasoned fire wood and starter sticks makes using their MASSIVE fire pit a breeze. The best part is she gives you access to both of their docks and you will not have to take your boat or kayak out of the water once. We kayak fished Johnson’s and Lacey’s with ease from her house. 100% coming back to stay again.

What a perfect cottage! Beautifully (but comfortably) furnished, right on the water, incredibly well-stocked. Arranged so families can spread out, or gather together. Everything you could possibly require or desire for a vacation or getaway was there. And the area is full of things to do--walks, birdwatching, antiquing, or, if you're an architecture geek like me, historic sites and buildings. You're also a 3-minute walk from the best restaurant on the Northern Neck, Merroir Tasting Room. Can't wait to come back.

Madeline & Michael’s place is great 👍 They’ve recently renovated everything inside and there was even more space than we expected. We thoroughly enjoyed the views, the back yard of sand, small path through the sand dune and access to the beach. Communication was great leading up to and throughout our stay. Thanks again for the hospitality!

We love staying here! It’s so peaceful, quiet, and calm. The house is always clean and well stocked. Our favorite features are the kayaks/canoe and the private beach access!! Thank you for another wonderful weekend by the water!

My wife and I had an amazing time staying here! While we wanted to explore Williamsburg and Richmond, we spent half of the days there just enjoying the lake. Those were my favorite days. In all, a really great place to read, play board games, snack on food, and sit by the water.

Spotless and well organized with plenty of room. We will definitely rent again.

Our trip to The Half Shell Haven was great! The place was clean, extremely well stocked, and included many extras! We had crazy weather the first two days, but we had plenty to do at the house. My boys loved being on the water and the game room and my daughter loved the hot tub and bicycling. My daughters service dog enjoyed a nice reprieve and seemed so happy. We had a great time, and were honestly sad to go! If we find ourselves back up in Virginia we will definitely stay here! Thank you for the care and attention to detail to ensure a great trip!

Michael and Kristen were great hosts and their property was perfect for my friends who stayed there during my wedding weekend!
