The Telluride Bunkhouse

The Telluride Bunkhouse is designed to take you back in time to the rugged, western days of simple living. It is newly built yet has a cabin like feel and smell of old wood and low light ambiance. Everything was selected to purposely add a rustic appeal. The furniture and props are old, but everything that matters is clean. Sheets, mini fridge, and microwave are brand new. There is no TV or internet inside the bunkhouse. We are completely surrounded by woods, so trees limit access to satellites.

My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). I do have a 50.00 pet fee per dog up to 2 dogs only. It is located just above the entrance to the Smoke Hole Canyon with great fishing, beautiful scenery along the paved country curvy road. You can drive through the canyon and come out on Rt 28 just below the Smoke Hole caverns and gift shop. Then continue to Seneca Rocks and hike the rocks or drive to Nelson Rocks for zip lining.

The house is 20 minutes West of Harrisonburg VA and JMU.

The cabin, originally built as a mountain family getaway, has recently been renovated as an Airbnb for those seeking outdoor activities and tranquility. The rustic cabin is also accompanied by a picnic shelter with a working rock fireplace, loft, and an additional outdoor bathroom (in season). Approximately 2 acres of field and partially wooded property are available to guests. No pets.

Our home is one of 4 current family houses on an active working farm that has been in operation since the late 18th century. The home is rich in history but recent renovations make it quite comfortable. The large patio is perfect for watching the sunset over Jack Mountain or the moon rise over the Bullpasture. Clear nights are great for stargazing.
