My family and I had an amazing experience in Kurunegala! The coconut plantation was a paradise for relaxation, and the host was outstanding. He provided us with excellent recommendations and was quick to respond to any questions I had during my family's stay. If you're looking for a tranquil forest experience surrounded by lush greenery, then this is the spot for you. The accommodations were comfortable and thoughtfully designed, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Excited to return for my next trip to Sri Lanka, and will definitely come back for round 2 in Kurunegala.

We had a fabulous stay! The view over Sigiriya Rock is spectacular and we loved being able to cool off in the pool. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Our host was very friendly and responsive. We would definitely recommend this place!

Stayed between 15-18th of April 2025. This is the second time I visited this property. Absolutely a gem of place to relax and unwind. The location is full of nature only the sound of the birds can be heard. The views are stunning with a beautiful lake in front and a large paddy field. An unspoilt village to show children how the rural village life goes about. There are plenty of bicycle for the guests to use FoC and Can take a bicycle ride across the village and on the bundt of the lakes in and around and enjoy the picturesque views of the lakes and the Galkiriyagama rock that spans for 7kms. During the night only the sound of nature you can hear. In the evening a dip in the lake with the villages is not to be missed. The property is very clearly kept. The food is absolutely tasty and made in a kitchen cleanly kept. Ideal place to enjoy traditional Sri Lankan Rice and Curry and other Sri Lankan food. A place definitely you want to revisit over and over again. Great value for money.

The Raintree Retreat is a real gem! The property is huge and therefore each bookable house comes with a lot of privacy. The nature is stunning with fishes, turtles, lizards, monkeys and so many exotic birds to watch (incl. Kingfishers). At nighttime we even saw many fireflies. And to our surprise there are hardly any moskitos thanks to the fishes. Beside this amazing nature-experience our highlight were the hosts and their utmost welcoming and caring manner. Sue and her husband are such lovely people and we enjoyed the time we spend together. Uthpala took us even to a nearby river and we had a dip in the fresh water together. Our kids loved it! On top of all that we were really blown away by the ultra yummy food. Home cooked srilankan dishes in the evening and a great breakfast, always trying to match our kids taste (not spicy and lots of waffles and pancakes ;-) Thanks again for making our holidays sooo great!

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Banda hat uns sehr viel mit Aktivitäten geholfen und organisiert sowie uns für einen Abend ein super Restaurant empfohlen. Es war sehr sauber und gab viele Getränke im Kühlschrank. Das Essen war sehr lecker und es gab immer noch einen frischen Fruchtsaft dazu. Vielen Dank, für den tollen Aufenthalt 😊

The Balumgala estate was the highlight of our stay in Sri Lanka. From the peaceful surroundings, to the tranquil environment, tasteful furnishings and comfortable beds, the large and well-equipped kitchen, the walawwa style architecture, everything was perfect. Our host, Sandun was always available on Whatsaap to sort out either the wifi connectivity or the TV connection, which was not initially working. The staff at the property did everything to accommodate our needs for meals or recreation, and Siva deserves all the compliments that he has received in the other reviews. He is very polite, caring, thoughtful and an incredible cook!! We stayed here for two nights during the annual Avurudu with a family of five and we would come back any day for another memorable holiday at the picturesque Balumgala estate.

Wat een prachtig huis op een geweldige locatie. Als je op zoek bent naar ‘iets anders’, dan is dit de plek! Het huis bevindt zich in een grote tuin waardoor je het gevoel hebt alleen op de wereld te zijn. De hosts waren zo ongeveer de liefste mensen die we hebben ontmoet en kunnen fantastisch koken. Aanrader!

Coconut Escapes was everhthing we could have wished for and more🥥 We stayed for 2 nights in actual paradise The staff were amazing, so friendly, super helpful, went above and beyond. Food was phenomenal, tried a big variety of Sri Lankan food and I couldn't fault it, including the floating breakfast which was such a treat! Drinks were lovely including fresh coconuts Surrounded by nature, beautiful coconut farm and a nice and peaceful break. Went on a complimentary tractor ride which was fun and they offered plenty of other activities but after a long flight we opted to relax. Pool was fantastic, we were also delivered a surprise blow up flamingo which was a lovely treat. Cannot fault this place. If in doubt book it!

Great place to stay and everything was as described and the location was private whilst still being walking distance to local shops. Also Dinesh was a great host, responsive and assisted with a last minute late check in which was very helpful .
