Staying at the Old Mission House was a tonic. The house is spacious, very well proportioned and tastefully furnished whilst the kitchen is comprehensively kitted out - down to blender and spices!. All appliances are modern and effortless to use (particularly the electric space heaters). Above all they fit the bill, are appropriately sized and located and function perfectly. The situation of the house is wonderful and the creatively landscaped garden which stretches and gives access to the lochside is heavenly. All you need is some cooperative weather - ideally with some sun. Should it be pouring, all is not lost as the 270 deg. views from the house can equally be enjoyed from within and are very immersive. Lovely wee cottage with great opportunities to see wildlife on the doorstep, and perfectly situated to explore North & South Uist and islands close by. The cottage was really clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The beaches on the islands were incredibly beautiful and we had some great food at nearby restaurants. Willie was always very responsive and helpful, we would not hesitate to book Strome cottage again.

What a fantastic place to spend a few days. The cottage is spacious and very well equipped. It was great for the dogs with an enclosed garden a stones throw from the beach, and Elly kindly left bowls etc for them, along with a fab welcome basket for us. The location was stunning, with plenty of beaches on the doorstep, and a short drive from the iconic sights of Lewis and Harris. A great time was had by all!

Clean, spacious, warm and quiet home on a quiet residential road. The property overlooks a loch joining the sea and is great for calm and quiet. Mac was very responsive and we had no problems. We loved the space and it was a well equipped kitchen which is not always a given. WiFi was great if you need it and the heating etc was all straightforward and effective. Lovely having two bathrooms too. Near various historic sites. And also pretty beaches (20-30 mins drive), and a lovely play park if you have kids near Eoropie Beach.

Die Unterkunft ist zwar etwas älter aber war genauso wie beschrieben. Preis Leistung im Vergleich zu anderen Unterkünften auf der Insel top! Das Schlafzimmer war etwas hellhörig zu den Übermietern. Mit der Waschmaschine/Trockner kamen wir nicht klar, kann aber an uns gelegen haben. Sonst alles perfekt! Super Lage um die Insel zu erkunden und nur wenige Meter vom Tesco und der Fähre. Gute Parkmöglichkeiten vor der Türe. Sehr hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Wir würden wiederkommen.

Quaint and characterful little cottage, perfect for a couple and small dog. The location was stunning, on its own looking over the bay but still convenient for Stornoway and access to the rest of the islands. The cottage had everything needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

The location was perfect. It’s quite hard to find a place if you don’t make reservations in advance (even in April) so keep that in mind. The place was lovely. And Fiona was very responsive.

Wonderful location, right on a beautiful sandy beach. The cottage was really nice with everything we needed. It was a great base to explore Lewis and Harris. As someone who likes to watch birds, there was lots of activity in the area. There are sea eagles in the area, I saw them flying above the cottage 6 out of the 7 days we were there.

Amazing place! It was great stay. We had nice and peaceful vacation in this place. I want to highlight the detailed instructions for each and every utility in this house. It was very helpful. Thank you to our host for the opportunity to recharge in that nice house.

I loved every minute of my stay at An T-Iasgair Pod. From the cup of coffee in the morning with an ocean view and sheep in front of the window to meeting a wee little lamb to getting to know the history of the croft. Sandra and Kenneth are extremely nice and welcoming people and I felt very well taken care of. It’s beautiful to see their love for their land and sheep. I’m hoping to come back soon :)

We hebben erg genoten van de tijd die we in dit huis verbleven. Het uitzicht is prachtig, de locatie centraal in Portree en perfect voor uitstapjes op Skye. Het huis is schoon en van alle gemakken voorzien. Heel luxe dat beide slaapkamers (met heerlijke hoofdkussens) een badkamer hebben. Het huis is gelegen aan het eind van een doodlopend straatje, direct aan kiezelstrand/zee (afhankelijk van het getijde). Er is een voortuin met privéparkeerplaats. Het enige waar we wat aan moesten wennen zijn de toeristen die foto's van de baai komen maken vanuit de voortuin/parkeerplaats, maar dat brengt ook wel een leuke reuring en een gevoel van trots dat je mag verblijven op zo'n bijzondere plek.

Very helpful host and close to Stornaway and all amenities

Wonderful stay. Well situated to expore North and South UIst, with lovely cafe, fish shop, and wool shop, within easy access. Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Very thoughtfully, and tastefully, furnished and equipped. Lovely views of the loch, and very entertaining sheep wandering by. Robin and Michelle couldn't have been more helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our break in their beautiful cottage.

Le logement d’Emma pourrait être appelé, le petit havre de paix. La mer, les moutons, le calme, une vue apaisante. Nous avons séjourner 3 jours dans ce petit paradis et chaque soir après nos randonnées nous étions pressé de rentrer afin de retrouver ce petit cocon. Nous avons été reçu avec des petites attentions et de merveilleux cookies (une pure merveille). Emma est une super hôte avec qui l’échange est facile et très agréable. Je ne pourrais que recommander ce logement à deux pas (10 et 15min) de deux superbes randonnées, Hall man of stor et Quiraing. Ce fut un plaisir de visiter cette merveilleuse île dans ce parfait logement. Vous pouvez réserver les yeux fermées !

Felt like home. We stayed at Braes Retreat for four weeks and we loved every minute. The location is great for travelling around Skye as it’s pretty central but it still has that quiet isolation that most people come to Skye looking for. The house has everything you need, it’s very clean and comfy and Iain and Ingrid are great hosts to help you out with any issues. As all the other reviews say, the garden is spectacular, the views are beautiful and it’s generally a really lovely place to stay.

This is the perfect place to explore Isle of Skye! Being less than 10 mins from Broadford was amazing. We also never had more than 1 hour to get to any of POIs on our 3 day stay.

Magnifique logement, extrêmement bien équipé et fonctionnel ! On n'a pas l'impression d'être dans une maison de vacances tant l'attention portée aux détails est grande. La route pour atteindre le logement est assez périlleuse mais quel résultat. Calme et vue à couper le souffle au bout du chemin. La proximité du pub est un plus non négligeable. Ne manque plus qu'une machine à café et tout est parfait 😉.

This was such an amazing place! My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and had an awesome time. Definitely recommend if you’re wanting to stay on the lower end of Isle of Skye. Thank you Jane for your hospitality!

We had an incredible stay at Aline Lodge. The lodge is really beautiful - top marks for all the fires having firewood, firefighters, and matches all ready to go. The electric Aga means the kitchen is always warm, and the view is world class. We went fishing twice (caught 11 trout!), clay pigeon shooting, used the sauna, and played table tennis and billiards. The kids went out on the boat around the loch and saw sea eagles, golden eagles, seals and a porpoise. Robert the gamekeeper was great - really responsive and happy to help. Could not recommend this highly enough - we will be back!

We had a wonderful week at your lovely, spacious property,. The dry, sunny weather was an extra bonus The location was fabulous. The house was both comfortable and practical for a large groug and for beach side living. The Welington boots and Crocs were a nice touch and much appreciated. The kitchen was well equipped for a large group with a great view. There was nothing we could fault, but a couple of suggestions to make it even better would be: Clearer instructions for when the bins should go out for collection, 3 of the 4 bins were full when we arrived. A larger casserole with a lid would be useful. The existing large white casserole was cracked. The Neseresso machine did not appear to work. There were two keys in addition to the front and back door keys which we were not sure where to use. A marker on the keys would be useful. The visitor book was full. We had an amazing time and would definitely come back.
