Amazing house looked well taken care of. Well recommended for a peaceful stay.

This was our third stay at Maureen’s house, and we are already planning the next one. My only regret is not staying longer. It’s perfect.

We chose this property because of the close proximity to the ocean. There is no beach but you can definitely hear the waves crashing and it was very tropical. Besides the house next door, it is very private. Plenty of kitchen appliances, plateware, and silverware. The neighbors were friendly, including their dog. Overall, we had a great stay would definitely recommend this house if you are looking for peaceful, quiet time on the island.

Beautiful home and wonderful host. We had everything we needed or could ask for. Mari was a perfect host answering any questions, providing many local recommendations and even met us at checkin to show us her home. The view was magnificent, opening the doors in the morning and sipping on coffee on the deck watching the sun rise was my daily ritual. It was a nice surprise to have chairs and snorkeling equipment available to us. Grocery and Walmart minutes away for quick pickup items. The must see sights were just 10-20 minutes away. We visited the caves, snorkeling in the bay, national park and the gardens.

Incredible ocean views with direct access to the magnificent cliffs overlooking the crashing waves along the rocky coast. If you have young children, then stick with their heated pool and water toys in the garage or drive over to area beaches. House and its porches have wonderful ocean views and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Kitchen has extensive cookware and plenty of space. Beach towels are provided in the pantry. Spectacular place that we recommend wholeheartedly.

We enjoyed the private and peaceful location and it worked out well for our brief stay on that side of the island with a reasonable drive to some areas that were just too far from the west side of the island. The bed was comfortable and we appreciated the AC as my husband gets hot and sweaty at night without it. The frogs were loud at night but the fan helped cover the noise so we appreciated it. We didn't get the chance to meet our hosts but had a great stay overall and would happily stay again in the future.

Beautiful home on the peaceful Hamakua Coast. Our family enjoyed a wonderful and quiet staycation - the pool was delightful and temp was just right with the cool ocean breeze. Kitchen was stocked with basic essentials making cooking easy. Very comfortable sleep spaces - cool breeze at night with windows open. Loved every minute! Suzy was very friendly and responsive. The grounds were so beautiful - lots of flowers and fruits surrounding us. I highly recommend this home as your next getaway. I will stay here again. Thank you Suzy and Peter!

Can’t say enough good things about Ginger and her place. To start, Ginger was a very proactive and responsive host. She made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived, gave us a tour of the place, and recommended a lot of great places on the island. As for the place, you can’t beat the price! It is a little far out, especially if you don’t have a rental car, but the area and nice and private, and the stars light up the sky at night. Ginger provides us with all the amenities we needed for our stay, along with clear instructions for both check in and check out. Thank you again for hosting us Ginger, we can’t wait to return!

This was our second stay at the Sugar Shack and we would come back again and again! The home and its surroundings are so peaceful and serene. We love everything about it and it has everything we need including small kitchen appliances, cutlery, plates, linens, pillows, towels, beach supplies, games, you really don't need to bring anything other than your suitcase! The location is definitely off the beaten path, so if you're looking to disconnect, this this the place for you (although there is Wi-Fi at the house). There is a small black sand beach super close by that is perfect and several grocery stores and restaurants just a short car ride away. Although we would love to keep this place as our secret, just book it, you won't be disappointed!

Absolutely loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. Joshua and his wife went over the top making us feel welcome and even called us when we landed at the airport to give us suggestions of where to go in the Hilo area up shop for what we may need at their home. We were very surprised and so thankful for the wonderful fruit arrangement they left us, the delicious cookies and Lei’s. Perfect for our late night snack and breakfast. We didn’t not even realize we were off the grid regarding water, electricity, AC or heating. Make sure you allow time to enjoy coffee and tea during the morning hours on the lanai - the surrounding are so peaceful . We actually crossed something off of our list in order to enjoy the lanai longer

This place has a quiet environment. The house is well maintained, equipped, and clean. It is one of the most comfortable Airbnb I’ve come across. The host Michelle is friendly and responsive. One point for improvement is there may not be enough air conditioning in very hot days as the only A/C in the living room is not enough for the 3 rooms that are relying more on ceiling fans. On the whole, I enjoyed staying here.

We had a great stay! The location is super convenient—just a quick drive to downtown Hilo, which made it easy to explore the area. The place was clean, quiet, and a perfect size for two adults and a child. Having AC in the bedrooms at night was a big plus and made for comfortable sleeping. A couple of small quirks (like the fans being a bit tricky to figure out and the kitchen sink turning on with the shower), but nothing that took away from the overall experience. For the price, location, and cleanliness, it was a really solid stay!

What a great place! The place had an ocean view and the yard was beautifully landscaped. The kitchen had everything a person could want, even spices except for cinnamon and nutmeg. The new shopping center in Pahoa is great, too. We especially liked the health food market in Pahoa. The prices were more reasonable than at the regular market and had wonderful staff! We will definitely stay again whwn we return in a couple of years!!

Cute, homey and great location just outside Hilo. Betty was very responsive and helpful.

Lynne was very kind and helpful. We chose this tea house partially because of all the amazing reviews and it did not disappoint! We only wished we could have stayed a few more days! Lynne kept us informed about the lava flow and we got some amazing pictures and videos of the volcano! She also gave us great recommendations for food and places to see. We would definitely stay here again!

Street leading to the house are very dark at night. Take care when finding the right turn onto the street. access to the beach is quite difficult. The steep stairs leading down is scary for oldies like me. Every day, it was cool and windy, definitely no need for air-conditioning.

Pleasant stay. Convenient location. Great parking. Had all the comforts of home. It was just right for a party of 3.

This was a great place to stay while exploring the national park! Super close to the park entrance. The space was very modern, clean, and comfortable. We loved the fireplace in the evening, comfy bed and nice bathroom! Would definitely stay here again.

May was great! She was extremely responsive and a great host. We needed beach towels to go to our favorite Big Island beach, and she dropped some off a few hours later. The location is great. It's right near everything in town, however, that made it was a little noisy with road traffic. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows weren't the best. We wanted to do breakfast and dinner at the house, and she had just about everything we could have needed, but I would disagree with other reviews that the place was stocked great. The photos make it look nicer that it actually is, but the location was what we cared about most.

I will rent again in a heart beat!

Michaels place was exactly what we were looking for. Me and my sisters had the honor to represent Tahiti at merrie monarch this year and the location of Michaels place was perfect. Super close to downtown Hilo, the stadium and airport. Michael was super helpful with good recommendation and his place felt right like home.

Wow, what an amazing property. The view was stunning. So many nice spots to sit and hang out. Well stocked home. We had everything we needed and more. Very comfortable. I would love to come back here again.
