A 40 year celebration of being married. It was the perfect place for us to relax and enjoy our time together. Many highlights the hot tub view the peacock and peahen dance every night... The night flyover from the herons. Martyn was a perfect host very helpful. Perfect memories thank you.

We spent 5 nights here at the end of March and start of April 2025. We were really fortunate with the weather and took full advantage of the wonderful location: scaling Slight Side and Scafell on one day, riding to Coniston via the bridleway on another and 'bagging' most of the Coniston fells on another day via Wrynose Pass. We ate in on a couple of nights and also went to the Wainwright's for some pub grub, as well as Stoves for their evening menu. Simon and Belinda's place is very well situated in Great Langdale for all kinds of walks and rides, food and decent pints. The house itself is a lovely place to return to in the evening with easy parking outside for our van and once inside, everything is spotless, well equipped and cosy. We really appreciated all the helpful information on bike routes and walking routes and spent the late evenings by the fire pouring over the Wainwright books planning the next day's adventures. 100% recommended.

5 Stars – A Magical Getaway! From start to finish, our stay at this riverside cottage was absolutely unforgettable. The location was stunning – peaceful, scenic, and surrounded by nature. We loved relaxing in the awesome hot tub and sauna after a day of exploring. There were so many activities nearby that made the trip even more special: we got to feed reindeer and wild goats, visit multiple beautiful castles, and enjoy endless walking paths through breathtaking landscapes. The cottage itself was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed. The whole experience, from the smooth journey to the warm welcome, was just perfect. If you're looking for a mix of relaxation, adventure, and nature, this is the place. Can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic location. However it is on a main road. I did know that in advance and wasn’t too noisy anyways. The cottage is lovely and spacious but the windows do need a bit of love. They will need replacing soon as they don’t close well. The hot tub was super and well needed after a day out on the bike or out hiking. Really enjoyed the short break and the sun shone for all the days I was here.

Another wonderful stay at Red Stables. The views from the lounge and hot tub are to die for, you're absolutely in the middle of the countryside and it's so quiet and peaceful. Head to the tub to completely wind down or stay connected via the high speed WiFi if you must! You can stream movies or your favourites on the internet connected Tv. Plus there's a great Farm Shop and Cafe five minutes away in the car. Highly recommended.

Our stay at The Stables was heaven. Paul welcomed us and showed us around and had even set up the hot tub for us arriving. The house was immaculate with everything you could possibly need and beautifully decorated too. We loved the Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom. The garden was beautiful and so peaceful and our two dogs loved it, it was completely secure for them which meant we could relax. The view from the garden and the location were wonderful, it was just what we needed. We didn’t want to leave and would love to come back sometime soon. Thank you for being wonderful hosts and for our cheeseboard and Prosecco it was such a thoughtful touch.

Had a brilliant 3 nights away for my mum’s 60th birthday with 6 people and 2 dogs. Lisa’s place is in beautiful surroundings with a view you’ll never get bored of, very peaceful and with comfy beds meaning we all slept soundly even including one morning being woken up by the cows next door. Private garden with the hot tub and lawn games a very nice touch. Lovely welcome hamper with dog bowls and dog blankets also usefully provided. Place generally really clean. All in all a great trip and would definitely book again.

Staying at The Distillery was an absolute dream. Communication with Margaret was outstanding and we felt immediately welcomed. The welcome pack and touches were really appreciated. Location was fantastic and we could travel into the Lakes with ease, within Dumfries and Galloway, and even got the train to Edinburgh for a day out with ease. Evenings were spent relaxing in the hot tub under the stars. You won't be disappointed if you book here!

Lovely little house. Received advice on the way in that the house was ready and we could check in early without asking if we could. Just a 30 min drive to Scafell for the corridor and popular routes up. Great pizza place nearby and curry delivery spot on.

lovely surroundings with sheep in field at back. found a delightful loop walk following small Brook into woods. Really appreciate the wood burner in lounge that made the whole place very cosy. would recommend.

Had a lovely stay at hilltop cottage. The cottage was beautifully decorated and we felt right at home. The bathtub was amazing, and the little touches like marshmallows for hot chocolate by the fire was a great touch.

Super stay. Enjoyed fantastic views & good walks despite variable weather. House was super: bright, clean & well maintained. Thank you.

Excellent place to stay. Dog friendly and the property was very user friendly. We were 2 friends on a dog walking holiday with working dogs. We were blessed with wonderful weather, however should it have been a wet holiday the facilities were excellent. The property has an internal garage that comfortably fit an Octavia estate, laundry facilities and boot and wet weather storage - ample space, also space to leave dogs/crates if needed. The living areas on first floor, were spacious, clean and well appointed, the bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor were extremely comfortable, spacious and airy. All excellent nights sleep!!! The property has a small, patio area, however there is a lovely park within a minute or 2 walk. The general area is very quiet, however a convenience store very close and the town centre within minutes walk. A superbly placed property. Parking outside - a SWB Ford transit fit comfortably in the allocated parking space. Stuart was informative and helpful

Delightful little rustic, comfortable cottage in a great location. Stephanie was a great host and very welcoming - even offered to carry my bags, ha ha. I am quite familiar with the area but I have no doubt Stephanie would be on hand to provide information and suggestions should you need them. After a long drive the pub within easy walking distance was a welcome respite, cold beers and good food! Thanks Steph and maybe see you again the future, all the best, Joe.

We had a wonderful stay at the apartment. The house and gardens are beautiful, surrounded by wildlife and birds song. Incredibly well appointed complete with fresh flowers from the garden. We felt at home immediately. We can’t wait to come back.

Loved my stay at this beautiful cottage. Such a spacious, homely cottage with an amazing big enclosed garden for the dog. I’ll definitely be back!

The Fairy Cottage was absolutely perfect!! Hugh met us at the door and showed us around the place, explaining how things worked. It was so neat and clean but very well decorated. Felt immediately comfortable! Speaking of comfortable, the bed was a dream!! Wish we could have spent more time there but next time we will!!

We came for few days away as a group of friends to celebrate all our birthdays. Lovely few relaxing days in the peace and quiet. Host allowed an hour later check out which was exceptionally kind. Great space, plenty of room and comfortable, clean beds. Will be back!

This place is absolutely stunning. Many beautiful walks in the most perfect surroundings. Would go back in a heartbeat! Great hosts, easy to follow instructions for a simple check-in/out. Thanks for having us.

We really enjoyed the accommodation and had a good time. Allonby is small and quiet, and it was good that we'd stocked up on food etc before we got there. The views across the Firth are lovely, but we found the landscape apart from that less exciting. (It would be great for cyclists though!)That said, as a quiet get-away, it fitted the bill very nicely.
